Where is the safety of BYD blade battery?

2022-12-16

The "blade battery" adopts a new and familiar CTP (Cell to Pack) module free structure design, which eliminates the intermediate module link and directly integrates the battery cells into a battery pack. If we disassemble the battery pack of BYDIHAN, we can get a pile of single batteries with a length of 1 m, a width of 10 cm and a thickness of less than 2 cm. These single batteries are closely arranged and inserted into the battery pack like "blades", so they are named as blade batteries

The BYD blade battery is essentially a lithium iron phosphate battery, but its layout has changed. It is arranged like a blade one by one. This will accelerate the heat dissipation, greatly improve the space utilization of the battery pack, and increase the volume specific energy density by 50%. Therefore, there are models with super long endurance, and the blade battery cycles up to 3000 times.

1. High material safety: lithium iron phosphate material has higher ignition point, thermal runaway temperature exceeds 500 degrees, ternary lithium battery thermal runaway temperature is 200 degrees, high temperature weather, collision is not easy to spontaneous combustion, and passengers in the car are safer.

2. High form safety: small short circuit area of blade material, fast heat dissipation; The battery in the simulated car accident was damaged, and the surface temperature was less than 60 ℃ after the acupuncture test.

3. High structural safety: honeycomb aluminum plate structure, the battery acts as a beam, and the hardness is super strong.

The above is the introduction of the safety of BYD's blade batteries. I believe that through the above introduction, we have a better understanding of whether BYD's blade batteries are safe
